Default A few newb questions

(Yes I've searched most questions have been answered)

At the moment I'm a level 8 R/Me & have fought my way to fort ranik.

In my bags I have a bunch of salvageable items from the mission there (Shaman garb, mind spark garb, stalker garb, etc). But I only have around 500g as I'm finding it hard to make any kind of money.

My first Q is would it be worth buying the expert salvage kit (400g) to try & get something from those items? And if so, how can I make money from them?

Also, is there any kind of broker or auction house in the game? I see people trying to sell stuff in chat but its nightmarish, just constant fast chats, completely hectic.

Right now I'm not really sure where to go from here. I'm not getting much loot from the mission and hardly any xp whatsoever.

Anyway, any help is appreciated.

the completion of the missions is the part which gives you the most xp. Well the coopmissions that is. Some quests gives also xp or some goodies.

In any case don't bother expertsalvaging most stuff untill you are either well into the desert or if you have already build up a bit of a moneystash at around the wilds. Chances are to small to get steel or silk out of most of those items that drop over there. Only reason why people do use expert salvages in there is to get some parts of a weapon (prefixes and suffixes).

Best way to make a profit early on is by picking evrything up untill your pack is full and then selling it. Although you could always regular salvage everything as soon as your pack starts to get filled.

There is no broker or auction system in the game at this moment. But it is on hte list or so I heard.

In any case, don't expect the game to revolve around gathering loot, that is not reall the intention of the game. Although you can do so, just try to have fun and solve the missions and quests etc.

IMO it is worth it to have a salvage kit. As you move through the game you will notice that 500 gold is not that much. You are currently in a very low level area so try to play for collector items now as you save your gold. The salvaged items are nice because they stack into piles of 250 (ie wood, cloth, leather etc.) When you get to pikens if you have not already paid for bags of holding (taking storage from 5 slots to 10) buy them here to increase your holding capacity. ID and sell all colored items. Once you ID them you will notice that the value increases. This is also true for white items and green items but not until you get to the desert. Don't worry so much over money right now just focus on the story line and the area exploration. The money will come with knowlege and higher level areas. Once you have a stack of 250 of any crafting material I suggest you sell it to material traders or have it crafted into other materials. You will find the people that do this in your travels

I wish! It is coming with Chapter 2 we hope. For now there is no auction house. If you open your chat box you will notice check marks at the top for each type of message you can send. One of the check boxes controlls the Trade chat. Just uncheck this and you lose 1/2 the WTB/WTS messages. Unfortunatly people take advantage of the local channels for trading also and the only way to get rid of them is to turn that off also. The problem is that that is used to form groups. The common trade area(s) right now is Lions Arch District 1 and a couple other areas for items and crafting materials like Droknars Forge, Deldrimore War Camp, and the Tombs.

The main XP is from missions and quests after you get over level 5. You will get more XP from higher level monsters also. As I said you are just starting out in this world we all love. Have fun with the game and enjoy the story line your 1st time through. If you need some help or have questions and I am in the game please send me a Whisper (IGN: Me Nofat). Just add me to your friends list and I will help when I can.
